Thanks for your interest in acupuncture!

I look forward to the possibility of working with you
and sharing the wonderful benefits of this medicine.

I offer individualized programs of care that focus on your immediate health concerns while establishing long term health outcomes for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Acupuncture is a system of healing that promotes balance and restores wellness by stimulating a person’s innate ability to heal. To address your unique health issues, I take time to thoroughly discuss with you your health concerns, conduct a detailed health assessment, and provide you with a series of acupuncture treatments specific to your needs.

My expertise as a healer involves a deep understanding of the five elements and the use of acupuncture, vibrational acupressure, moxibustion and massagewithin a context of relationship-based care and support, which emphasizes:

  • Deep listening to each individual’s concerns and goals for improved well-being.
  • A global approach to understanding and working with each person as a unique individual.
  • Empowering the individual to make informed choices regarding their health and well-being.

Starting Care: Five Element Traditional Diagnosis and Treatment

When starting care, I ask that we schedule 6 sessions on a regular basis to make real progress in addressing your chief concerns. Most people notice big shifts in their health and well-being after 6 acupuncture treatments, so you would know relatively soon if acupuncture care is a good option for you. We can also work around any scheduling issues that may come up for work or travel.

First Visit: Five Element Traditional Diagnosis

During the first appointment, we talk about the reasons you are seeking acupuncture care at this time and set up some treatment goals we can focus on together. During this visit I will conduct a detailed analysis of your acupuncture meridians, which includes taking your pulse, looking at your tongue, and palpating areas and points on your abdomen, arms and lower legs. I also can answer any questions you have about acupuncture care or other health conditions or concerns at this time. For this visit, I ask that you wear comfortable clothes and avoid wearing scented products, like perfumes, lotions, etc. This is usually a 2 hour visit.

Treatment Visits: Five Element Acupuncture and Bodywork

During treatment visits, I’ll check in with how you are doing, take your pulses, and provide you with an acupuncture treatment that addresses your concerns and health goals. This visit takes 1 to 1.5 hours, allowing you would like to rest and relax during treatment.

Continuing Care

Acupuncture is used to prevent disease as well as to improve general health. As your acupuncturist, I am dedicated to helping you maintain optimal health and well-being. After completing an initial series of 6 treatments, we will evaluate how acupuncture is serving you and discuss options for continued care and treatment.

Sustaining Balance

Depending on your health goals, regular treatment sessions may be needed on a less frequent basis to maintain the progress achieved during the initial phase of care. Often underlying concerns or secondary health goals emerge that we can address through continued treatment. In general, people appreciate ongoing care through monthly or bi-monthly visits to maintain their health status.

Seasonal Tune-ups

Preventative care treatments primarily focus on health maintenance throughout the seasons. Often I have observed that people have a certain time of year where they are more likely to have a health concern, such as hay fever in the springtime, seasonal affective disorder in the winter, bronchial cold in the late autumn, etc. Five Element Acupuncture is especially effect at providing individualized support during these specific seasonal periods and transitional times.

Periodic Support

A series of treatments can support an individual going through to a stressful situation, such as a traumatic experience or health crisis. People appreciate follow-on care that helps them adjust and adapt to situations, whether it’s a stressful period, a major life change or support through a difficult time.
